Roman Herzog
was the President of the German Republic from 1994 to
1999. Previously he was a professor of Law at Munich
University, and the Free University of Berlin where
he also served as rector. During his political career
he was also the State Ministry of Interior and the vice-president
of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany in Karlsruhe.
He co-authored with Bassam Tibi Preventing the clash
of civilizations (New York, NY: St. Martin's Press,
1999).
